How do I join a PearDeck lesson with a mobile phone, laptop computer or iPad?

The way to join a Pear Deck lesson is the same whether you are joining with a Android or iPhone, an iPad tablet or a laptop computer:

1. First, make sure that you have the code ready which your teacher have given you.
2. Second, sign in to your Gmail or Microsoft email account. If you do no have a Gmail or Microsoft email account, then you must sign up for one first at https://accounts.google.com/signup for Gmail or at https://signup.live.com for a Microsoft Live account.
3. Then, visit the https://app.peardeck.com/join web address in your browser. Enter the code provided by your teacher in the white box. The code will typically be a 6 letter code without numbers. You can only enter lower case letters, so don’t worry about lower and upper case. If you still haven’t signed in to your Gmail or Microsoft account, you will now be asked to do so.
4. You will now be automatically logged in to the lesson. If this does not work for you, then check if your teacher have given you a unique web address. Because, alternatively, you can join a Pear Deck lesson by visiting that web address URL in your browser. The URL will look like this https://app.peardeck.com/student/hfgrbebsd (example). Visiting the URL that your teacher has given will immediately start the lesson.

What Happens When You Type the Code: The Mnemonic Words Explained

When you begin typing your Peardeck code into the white box, you may notice something unusual: the screen turns each letter of your code into the first letter of a word. For example, if the code is ABCDEF, the screen might show a phrase like “Acidic Bandanas Calmly Drive Exothermic Flashlights.”

This is not a glitch or an advert. It is a built-in memory and readability aid. The word phrase helps students who are hearing the code called out across a noisy classroom, and it helps teachers read the code aloud without confusing letters that sound alike, such as B and D, or M and N. Because each letter becomes a clearly different word, there is no confusion between similar-sounding letters. It also gives every student a quick visual check that they typed the letters in the right order before they press the blue Join button. If you are ever unsure whether a character is the letter O or the number zero, the mnemonic word answers it instantly, because a word can only begin with a letter, never a number.

I Cannot Find the JoinPD.com website.

If you have been told by your teacher to go to the www.joinpd.com website to join, then you might get a surprise:

The JoinPD.com website does not exist anymore!

But don’t worry! If you type in ‘www.joinpd.com’ in your browser on your phone or on your laptop, you will automatically be transferred to the NEW Neardeck login page at https://app.peardeck.com/join.

Be careful with typing mistakes or spelling mistakes, though. For example, if you type: joinpd.con, joinpd.ocm, pd.join, joinpdx.com, or joinpd.cpm in your browser, you will get an error message. Typing ‘joinpdcom’ will also give you an error. You must include the full stop between joinpd and com.

Using www.joinpd.com or joinpd.com both work. The www in front doesn’t matter.

Why joinpd.com No Longer Exists as Its Own Website

For many years, joinpd.com was the standalone page where students typed a Pear Deck code to enter a lesson. In 2023, Pear Deck moved all of its student-facing pages under its main product domain, and joinpd.com stopped being a separate website. Instead of disappearing completely, the domain now works as a permanent redirect.

In practice, this means that when you type joinpd.com into your browser and press Enter, the browser first reaches the old joinpd.com address and then instantly forwards you to https://app.peardeck.com/join, which is the current live join page. You do not have to memorise the new address. Anyone who bookmarked joinpd.com over the years, or who simply remembers it, still lands in the right place. This is why so many teachers, worksheets and school help pages still say “go to joinpd.com”, and those instructions still work perfectly. The address bar just shows the redirect happening for a split second before the real join page loads.

My Peardeck Code Doesn’t Work.

If your Pearddeck code does not work, you will get an error message ‘Couldn’t find a session for “example”.

Try again, and pay close attention to the the letters in your code, and if they are in the right order. Also, make sure to type in the letters O and L and not the numbers 0 and 1 (they can look the same). The Peardeck code is made up of letters only. You can use either lower case or upper case letters, both will work.

Also, Peardeck codes expire after 7 days. So, if the code does not work, it could have expired.

How Peardeck Join Codes Work

Every time a teacher launches a live Pear Deck presentation, the platform creates a brand-new join code. The code is always 5, 6 or 7 letters long, it uses alphabet letters only (never numbers), and it is not case-sensitive, so uppercase and lowercase both work exactly the same.

Teachers usually share the code by putting it up on the projector at the start of class. Many teachers also paste it into Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams so that students who arrived late, or who could not see the board, can still join. The teacher’s screen normally shows both the code as letters and the mnemonic phrase as words, and the two swap back and forth every few seconds so nobody misses it.

A code stays valid until the teacher ends the session, which is normally at the end of the class period. Codes cannot be reused across separate sessions, so if the same class meets again the next day, the teacher generates a fresh one. This is a deliberate security feature: it stops old codes from being shared to sneak into future classes, and it keeps each session’s list of participants clean. If a teacher pauses a lesson and resumes it later the same day, the original code usually keeps working until the session is fully closed, so late arrivals can still pop in on the current slide.

Can I join a Peardeck Lesson without Logging in to my Gmail or Microsoft Account?

You can only join without logging in, if your teacher have chosen to create the lesson as an anonymous lesson. Then you will appear as an avatar (for example, “penguin”, or “jaguar.”).

Joinpd.com Login: Where Students and Teachers Sign In

The joinpd.com page itself does not have a login form. You simply enter the code and go. Depending on how your school has set things up, you may be asked to sign in with your school account after you type the code. The table below shows exactly where to sign in for each situation, so you never end up on the wrong page.

If a sign-in fails even though your details are correct, the most common cause is that your school’s IT administrator has restricted third-party apps for your account. In that case, ask your school’s technology coordinator to approve (whitelist) Pear Deck in the Google Admin Console or the Microsoft Entra admin center. Once that is done, sign-in usually works right away.

The Pear Deck Family of Products (and Which Login You Need)

Something that confuses a lot of students and parents is that “Pear Deck” is really a whole family of products, and each one has its own separate login page. If you try to sign in on the wrong one, it will not work even when your username and password are correct. The single most useful login tip is this: if your login is not working, first ask yourself “which Pear Deck product am I actually trying to use?” Nine times out of ten, a login problem is really a student trying to sign in to the wrong one of these four products. Match the product to the correct page above and the login almost always works straight away.

How do I log in to Edulastic, the Peardeck Assessment program?

Because so many students type joinpd.com in a hurry, misspellings are extremely common. Here are the six most frequent typos that will NOT take you to the real Pear Deck join page:

• joinpdcom (missing the period), this is not a valid domain. The browser will not know where to send you. Always include the dot: joinpd.com.
• joinpd.ocm (transposed letters in .com), this typo often exists as a real registered domain owned by domain squatters, not Pear Deck. It may show ads, a fake login page, or malware. Type the letters carefully.
• joinpd.join (wrong top-level domain), .join is not a valid TLD in this context. This will fail to resolve, or worse, land on a typo-squatter’s site.

Can I use Pear Deck for free?

Why is joinpd.com not loading for me?

Try these fixes in order: refresh the page; check your internet connection; try a different browser such as Chrome or Firefox; clear your browser cache and cookies for joinpd.com and peardeck.com; go directly to app.peardeck.com/join to skip the redirect step; and confirm your school network is not blocking Pear Deck, since some school firewalls block third-party tools by default and need an administrator to whitelist them.

Does joinpd.com work on iPhones and Android phones?

Yes. joinpd.com works on any modern mobile browser, including Safari on iPhone or iPad, Chrome or Samsung Internet on Android, and Firefox on either platform. Can I join a Pear Deck lesson without an account?

Yes. Chromebooks are one of the most common devices used with Pear Deck. Open Chrome, go to joinpd.com, enter the code, and you are in. There are no installations and no special permissions needed.

Do I need Wi-Fi to use joinpd.com?

Yes. Pear Deck is a live, real-time platform, so you need an active internet connection throughout the session. School Wi-Fi is normally enough. If your connection drops mid-session, the page shows a “reconnecting” message and usually picks back up on its own once you are back online.

What is the difference between joinpd.com and peardeck.com?

joinpd.com is the student-facing shortcut for joining a live lesson. Peardeck.com is the main marketing and teacher-facing website, where teachers learn about the platform, sign up for accounts, and reach the teacher dashboard. Students almost never need to visit peardeck.com directly; they just go to joinpd.com with the code their teacher gave them.

Is joinpd.com an official Pear Deck URL?

Yes. joinpd.com is officially owned and operated by Pear Deck (now part of GoGuardian). It is safe to visit, uses HTTPS encryption, and automatically redirects to the current official join page at app.peardeck.com/join.
